I’m entering my feral years and none of these whippersnappers are ready for it

brandyllyn:

I’m going to need y'all to preemptively chill out because the actor’s strike is going to mean a lot of things including shows and movies we’ve been anticipating being pushed way back, and absolutely minimal press tours for the next however long this lasts.

The effects of the writer’s strike are months down the road which made it a whole lot easier to support because as third parties we weren’t really being affected (yet), the effect of the actor’s strike is going to be immediate and we’re going to get a lot more propaganda of “these people are overpaid to begin with.”

Remember our desire for content does not supersede these people’s rights to live.

Support unions, support the strikes.

oh it’s going down

  • Along with stepping away from all film and television productions worldwide, actors will not be permitted to take part in promotional work of any kind, including press junkets, film premieres, and fan events like San Diego Comic-Con.
  • Sources also say that SAG-AFTRA has informed publicists that any scheduled press or acting work after a strike is ordered must be cancelled. SAG-AFTRA members are also not permitted to promote any work on social media, as that is considered publicity.
  • Actors are permitted to attend the pop culture convention as long as they don’t take part in any panels that promote a specific film or television show or discuss any current or future work. While attendance is allowed, individuals with knowledge of the publicist meeting tell TheWrap that SAG-AFTRA would prefer that its members completely skip the event [SDCC] later this month.

euphorial-docx:

during the wga/sag-aftra strike, we may see:

  • film in other countries continuing as usual, but those actors/writers are NOT crossing picket lines! other countries unions often have rules where they can’t strike in solidarity with american unions.
  • new indie movies separate from hollywood studios. indie movies can continue as usual too, and may even use union actors if they follow certain guidelines and/or get permission from the union.
  • awards shows, although they might look different and may be postponed. if there are award shows during the strike, there’s a chance they will just be live conferences announcing winners with no celebrations attached.
  • celebrities will not be promoting their work during this time— that WOULD be crossing the picket line! yes, this includes social media. they can still post on social media, as long as it doesn’t pertain to their work.
  • a lot more reality tv. this happened the last time there was a writers strike, and it will certainly happen again.
  • actors will also not be able to campaign for awards. this awards season is going to be a strange one.
  • propaganda from hollywood. they are already trying to flip the narrative by claiming they can break the unions, but they can’t. the strikers have the power. stand with them for however long this takes!
